Many audiologists, hearing aid providers, and hearing clinics are still holding their breath for the FDA's OTC Hearing Aid regulations to be published. Meanwhile, Bose just went ahead and dropped a big disruptive bomb in the form of self fitting hearing aids: Bose SoundControl Hearing Aids. These devices have been officially approved by the FDA to be called hearing aids. Since August, these hearing aids have been available to purchase across the US at a much lower price point ($850) compared to professionally fit hearing aids, which can cost up to $6,000 for a pair. The SoundControl hearing aids have caught the attention of both Cnet and Dr. Cliff Olsen, who tried, tested, and reviewed their performance. Just last week, Forbes picked up on the story sent this news into the forefront.
